The Week of Prayer & Fasting is an invitation to slow down, set aside distractions, and intentionally seek the Lord together.

Biblically, fasting is not about earning God’s favor—it’s about humbling ourselves before Him and sharpening our dependence on Him. Throughout Scripture, God’s people fasted when they needed direction, repentance, renewal, or breakthrough (Matthew 6:16–18; Acts 13:2–3). Jesus Himself fasted and taught that fasting aligns our hearts with the will of the Father.

In the ancient world, a strong tower was a place of last refuge. Cities were often built with tall, fortified towers inside the walls. When enemies attacked, people didn’t argue, hesitate, or try to fight alone—they ran to the tower. Once inside, they were protected by height, strength, and solid walls.

Solomon is saying:
God Himself—His name, His character, His authority—is that place of safety.

Where do you run when fear hits?
What do you turn when you feel overwhelmed—control, distraction, people, or God?

Running to the Lord looks like:
• Praying before panicking
• Trusting God’s promises over anxious thoughts
• Seeking His presence instead of numbing the pain

“See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all.”

In the first-century world, retaliation wasn’t just normal—it was expected.
Honor was defended, wrongs were repaid, and revenge was seen as justice.

But Paul tells the church to live differently both then and now.

Instead of reacting the way the world does, believers were called to guard their hearts, watch out for one another, and run after goodness—even when they were mistreated.

This wasn’t weakness.
It was kingdom strength.

When we refuse to return evil for evil, we declare that Jesus—not our emotions, pride, or pain—rules our response. And when we pursue what is good, we reflect a kingdom that overcomes darkness without becoming it.

Context first:
In 1 Corinthians 10, Paul is talking about ordinary activities like eating and drinking and even complicated situations where believers disagreed about what was right or wrong. Instead of giving a long list of rules, he gives a guiding principle.

What it means:
“Whether you eat or drink”
Paul chooses the most basic, everyday actions possible. He’s saying even the small, routine parts of life matter to God. Nothing is too ordinary to be spiritual.
“Or whatever you do”
This expands it to everything: work, parenting, friendships, rest, decision-making, how you speak, how you respond when hurt, how you celebrate, how you suffer.
“Do all to the glory of God”
God’s glory means His character. His goodness, love, holiness, mercy, and truth being made visible.
To live for God’s glory is to live in a way that:
Reflects who He is
Points others toward Him
Honors Him rather than ourselves

Practically, this verse asks questions like:
Does this choice honor God?
Does this reflect gratitude for His grace?
Does this help others see Jesus more clearly?
Am I acting out of love, humility, and obedience?

What it does not mean:
It doesn’t mean life has to be stiff, joyless, or hyper-religious. In fact, enjoying God’s gifts with thankfulness, food, laughter, rest, celebration can glorify Him.

In simple terms:
Live every part of your life—big and small—with the desire that God would be honored, trusted, and seen through you.

It’s an invitation to worship God not just with words on Sunday, but with your whole life every day. God bless you all! Walk in His glory ♥️🙌🏻✨

FRIENDS AND FAM! VOTD! Isaiah 60:1
“Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.”
1. “Arise”
This is a call to wake up and stand up.
Israel had been in darkness—discouragement, exile, sin, and waiting. God is saying, “Get up. You’re not meant to stay bowed down or hidden anymore.”
Spiritually, it means:
Come out of despair
Step out of passivity
Take your place again in faith
God often calls us to rise before circumstances fully change because He is the one doing the changing.
2. “Shine”
The shining doesn’t come from us—it’s reflected light.
Just like the moon shines because of the sun, God’s people shine because His presence is on them. This isn’t about self-promotion or striving; it’s about allowing God’s light to be visible through obedience, love, and truth.
Jesus echoes this in Matthew 5:16:
“Let your light so shine before men…”
3. “For your light has come!”
This is a declaration of arrival.
In Isaiah’s time, this pointed toward God restoring His people. In the bigger picture, it points to Jesus, the true Light:
“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light.” (Isaiah 9:2)
For believers today, it means:
Hope has arrived
Salvation has come
Darkness does not get the final word
4. “The glory of the Lord is risen upon you”
God’s glory is His manifest presence—His weight, beauty, holiness, and power.
This phrase means:
God is no longer distant
He is actively present with His people
His favor and purpose are resting on them
Notice it says upon you, not just around you. God chooses to rest His glory on His people so the world can see Him through them.
Putting it all together
God is saying:

“Because I am with you, because My light has come to you, you don’t have to stay in darkness. Stand up. Reflect Me. Live differently. Let the world see My glory through you.”

It’s both a promise and a calling. Walk in His glory today. ♥️🙌🏻✨
